The dose recommendations on the bag are a starting point based on what we've found works for most dogs of a given size range, but since all dogs are individuals and receive varying amounts of fiber and probiotics from other sources in their diet, it's certainly safe to give either more or less.
That being said, a particularly petite pup might only need 1 or 2 teaspoons versus a whole tablespoon. To transition, start out with a pinch per serving for the first few meals and increase a bit at a time up to 1 tbsp until you are seeing the results you're looking for. Many tiny dogs maintain just fine on 1-2 tsp per day or sometimes even less.
Consult your vet if you think there may be a problem with your dog’s digestion.
